Here is a testimony and race report from Jeff Proctor one of TMR's satisfied customers.
The TMR program is a top notch racing effort. I spent many nights in Jason’s shop pretending to help out with whatever I could while trying to get familiar with the truck. I was able to observe all the preparation and detail that he puts into his program. His race results certainly reflect the time and effort he puts into his equipment. (I forgot to mention that he is a good driver too!) I wanted to share my observations in the shop for two key reasons. Jason’s attention to detail led to my confidence in the race truck, which in turn allowed me to just focus on driving and staying out of trouble. Secondly, He provided a co-driver that knew the race truck very well and was able to do any mechanical trouble shooting that would be required if a problem came up. I believe that having confidence in those two key areas led to a successful race and program. The TMR program gave me a chance to race without the financial commitment of a race team. It was what I needed to do before I went out and spent the money to build a race truck. Since then, I have started to make plans to build/ buy a jeepspeed so I can punt the guy who welcomed me to the class! Don’t just tell your friends how awesome it is to race off road…..give them the opportunity to race alongside you in the TMR rent a racer!
Henderson 400 Race Recap For 1749 The TMR built 1749 Jeepspeed was twelfth off the line in an eighteen truck field set to do battle in the Nevada desert. This was my first time in a desert race truck, let alone first race behind the wheel. We only had about 20 miles of seat time and testing prior to the race, however, I felt confident in the TMR built truck. Not only did I have confidence in the equipment but in my fearless co-driver Patrick Smith who risked his life to co-drive for a beginner with a dream to race off road. As we left the line, Pat was set to keep me under control while also encouraging a consistence pace. I used the first 20 miles to get settled in until we hit about four miles of whoops. This whoop section seemed to go on forever but our Dirt Logic shocks proved to work perfectly through one of the roughest sections of the course. As we continued, the course provided a variety of scenarios from rock gardens, to a single track up over the hill, to a wide open lake bed. I also can’t forget to mention that we also did our good deed for the day buy towing a fellow jeepspeeder with a blown head gasket to the next pit area which was about a mile up the road. Near the end of our first lap going down the power line road at speed we found ourselves going into a headwind with three others trucks in front of us and one in tow. As we continued towards the infield for the completion of the first lap our visibility was slim. All of a sudden we were punted by what felt like a ‘Trophy Truck’ come to find out it was another fellow Jeepspeed driver welcoming me to the class! On the second lap we were able to sustain a consistent pace while running in about fourth place. Our Currie Rear end continued to hold strong despite a much rougher course with large rocks and boulders turned up from the faster classes. We managed to find a lot more clean air in front of us as the space between race vehicles began to lengthen. Then around race mile 55 I lost focus for a split second and blew out our driver side rear tire. This driver error held us up for some time on the side of the course but fortunately we only lost one position. The rest of the race went according to our plan as we brought the 1749 TMR Jeepspeed to a filth place finish. I want to thank Jason Lafortune for trusting me with his truck and giving me the opportunity to have such a great experience. I would also like to thank Patrick Smith for all his help and for just getting in the truck with someone who has never driven off road. And thanks to the TMR crew for helping us gain a position though a very quick pit stop. I can honestly say I had the time of my life and have officially been bitten by the off road racing bug!
